Hostility
Due to her partial non-Mascyllary origin and political influence, Höpken has repeatedly been the object of political hate speech by calling her a "migrant", "foreigner" or "parasite"[1], and sexist insults; comedian Ralf Sömmer of the private broadcaster Signal 5 called her "a cheap Orient hooker" in 2019,[2] while Chirper users called to sexually abuse Höpken prior to her election as co-Party Leader of the SDP.[3] Due to these insults and hostile threats she has since been under constant personal protection.
Personal life
Susanne Höpken married former SDP member and mayor of Stakau Matthias Höpken (born 1978) in April 2010. Their daughter Liana was born in November 2011.
The family lived in the Drayer neighbourhood of Augusthal before moving to Marienfelde near Königsreh in early 2014.
