Wan Yahui Croston is a Gangkou-born Zamastanian politician and serviceman who serves as the Governor of the Province of Gangkou, having been elected in 2012. Croston first won the governorship by 58.45% of the popular vote in 2012. A member of the Progressive Party, he is one of the most influential figures of the Progressive bloc in Zamastanian politics, often serving as a chairperson to select candidates during presidential campaigns. As the governor of Gangkou, he has attempted to distance the island from Yuaneze Communist Party influences, leaning into sovereignty with Zamastan. He met with President Xi Jingyi in 2018 following a series of naval tensions, which drew criticism from world leaders.
Before he became governor, Croston attended law school at the University of Tofino and later served in the Zamastanian Naval Forces as a captain aboard the destroyer ZMS Amaury, seeing action during the 1983-91 War in Vulkaria. Following his military service, he entered politics in his home province, where he became popular for his anti-Yuan activism and denouncing President Camren Ellison for his attempts to grow closer with Yuan.
