Planned out by Marshal Count Thạch Hung Sõn Chiến, with a belief that he had planned out for the surrender of more than 30,000 of the most elite troops in the Commonwealth Army, he had expected the positions to surrender within a month. However, supplies were dropped from the air onto the Ridge, thereby keeping the ZANAC forces supplied and continued fighting until it was relieved by the Bethausian forces.
