Its official designation by the Government of Seketan includes 9 municipalities, although the term generally extends to include the broader region surrounding Lake Seketan. It covers most of the country's urbanized areas, including Seketan's first-, second-, and third-largest cities.
Central Seketan is the historic cradle of the Secenic duchies whose confederation would transform into the Kingdom of Seketan. Central Seketan became one of the most industrialized regions during 19th-century industrialization, developing a rail network that would ship to the Bay of Djenibek.
