Government and Politics
Molacia is a Federal Parliamentary Republic, and it's politics are conducted within a dominant party system whereby the president is the head of state. Like many democratic states, Molacia has a government divided into three branches: executive, judicial, and legislative. Molacia's legislative organ is a bicameral parliament, which consists of a 400 member National Assembly in the lower house, and a 120 member Board of Directors in the upper house. Members of the former are elected for 4 year long terms through mixed-member majoritarian voting, whereby 200 members are elected in single-seat constituencies through a First-past the post system, and an other 200 by proportional representation. By comparison, the Board of Directors isn't democratically elected, instead it is reserved for the twelve largest Molacian corporations, with each of them nominating 10 people to represent the corporation's interests, for a period of 10 years.

Furthermore, opponents of bicameralism believe, that this system hinders effective legislation, and runs counter to national interests, while supporters argue that these corporations contribute significantly to the nation's wealth, and involving them in the legislative process, is a way to get them invested in the nation's future.
