The 1st Mountain Infantry Division, also known as the Gornojaeger Division (Luepolan: Gornojegerska Divizija) is one of the five maneuver divisions of the Luepolan Army, and the only light infantry division. It was founded in 1954, but traces its traditions to the similarly-named 1st Mountain Rifles Division (Gornopuškova Divizija) of the army of the First Luepolan Republic.
The 1st Light Infantry Regiment and 34th Dependent Artillery Regiment of the division are formally integrated into the TBD division of the Vierz Reichswehr.
History
Structure
The 1st Division is comprised of the 1st, 2nd, and 8th Light Infantry Regiments; the 20th Dependent Artillery Regiment, the 34th Dependent Air Defense Regiment, the 60th Engineering Regiment, the 74th Logistics Regiment, and a Divisional Reconnaissance Battalion.
Each light infantry regiment is composed of three light infantry battalions, a reconnaissance battalion, and a logistics battalion. The Dependent Artillery and Air Defense Regiments are composed of three artillery and three air defense battalions, respectively, and a logistics battalion.
Equipment
As a light infantry division, most vehicles operated by the 1st Division are light and lightly armored, such as the TPz Dingo, OT M-80 and M-9 Liška. Consequently, the division employs greater numbers of infantry-operated heavy weaponry, such as the R-4 ATGM. It also is often supplemented by organically assigned forces, such as the 3rd Army Aviation Regiment or various Vierz formations.
