The Wullfolk (Wyllenleed: Ƿullfolck [/wullfoʊk/]) or officially The Nomadic Peoples of the Wullfolk is a collective of the species Faunoides aries - known as Sheeppeople as an untaxonomical exonym & Wullfolk by the Wullfolk themselves - who inhabit the eastern part of the Lumarian Plain in North Pelia, located north of S'Lanter & East of Khijovia.

The Land of the Wullfolk is split into three regions - the northern Lumarian Plain, the eastern Welkindowns & the western Netherheft.

Being swept in the Lumarian Plain, the land is rife with many species of Bovidae which led to a seminomadic lifestyle - that is, nomadic in the summer & sedentary in the winter - though ever since the endemic of lifestock disease around the 1400s A.R permanent sedentary living has emerged, although most of the three million or so Wullfolk are indeed still seminomadic. The largest of these settlements is Yeorood, with a population of around 10,000 - flucating depending on the season of course.

Governance

The governance is split in two hierarchies, the newly-burgeoning settlements & the ancient seminomadic pecking order.

The Burgh Governance

A system that only emerged only in the last two centuries or so due to the steadily intensifying endemic of disease, killing off lifestock & causing famine that forced a few herds to coalesce into a sedentary lifestyle.

The Reeve

The reeve is the head man of a Burgh, his personal palisade-surrounded yard importantly contains the barn that holds all of the grain of the town.

The Wardens

The wardens are the reeve's mates & male extended family, they protect the yard they and the reeve live in & stop any raiders or foes from taking the food & slaying their people.

The Kemps

These are commonpeople who may have weaponry, often earnt through prolonged & unwavering loyalty and compliance - otherwise they're entirely the same as the Swains.

The Swains

The common lot; labourers, clerks, merchants & so on.

The Sward Governance

An ancient hierarchy that the times are starting to grind away, where only the most silvertongued & stout shepherds prevail.

The High Shepherd

The sworn protector of all herds & herdsmen, elected by the Wise Herdsmen at the annual harvest fair on the High Eastern Watersmeet (where the most largest Burgh of Yeorood is placed) with the ensuing ceremony of a Wrought Iron upsidedown hoofshaped hat being placed on the newly-elected High Shepherd's grandest ram and then the High Shepherd himself.

The Wise Herdsmen

Heredrity rulers of broad downs, meads & deans - these people are considered by all to be the wisest in all the land. One of these men are elected to be High Shepherd by the others.

The Swardleasers

The only commoners allowed to ride horses, these Lords of Herdsmen called Swardleasers tax wool, milk, cheese & hay off Herdsmen and in return the Herdsmen are allowed to graze their ground - lest they're cast to dry wastelands of pastures.

The Herdsmen

They herd sheep, ward hayfields & do all the banal duties - at least they have more freedom, wealth & than the Swains albeit at the major cost of any security.
