The Steyrheim UAG (Universelles Armee Gewehr) is an Erebonian bullpup assault rifle chambered for the 5.56×45mm EB cartridge. It was designed and manufactured by Rainford Group. It is licensed by Rainford Group Zanarkand and RSAF Elfield outside of Erebonia. It was to be Erebonia's approach to replacing certain weapons in its armed forces.
When it was adopted in 1977 by the Imperial Army of Erebonia, it was deemed as the first bullpup assault rifle ever made, as well as the first one to be made standard issue. It would later be adopted for use by Rubrum, Zanarkand, and New Akiba as its standard issue rifle. It is also used by the Erebonian Federal Constabulary and the Railway Military Police.
The UAG was to prove unpopular with other countries, being that the bullpup design still wasn't considered superior. However, later on, the United Kingdom saw the bullpup design as a promising concept, and as a result designed its own bullpup assault rifle, which was the L85 Enfield. However, the L85 was to prove to be a failure, and as a result, adopted the UAG as a temporary main issue until the problems with the L85 were solved. The L85 line of riles continued to see service until in 2015, when it was decided that RSAF Elfield would begin producing UAGs under the designation as the AR95 Elfield after further unsatisfactory use with the L85 were reported.
