History
Sparkalia is believed to have seen the first sign of intelligent, sentient life 500,000 years prior to the Era of Renewal. Due to events that took place in the Era of Ruin, much of the history during and before this period of history on Sparkalia is still being pieced back together and interpreted by scholars and historians alike.
Era of Ruin - 985 BR to 0 BR
The Era of Ruin is the period of Sparkalia in which war and the near complete destruction of the planet and her people came about. Tensions were high and various weapons of mass destruction were built and completed, some within moments of being used before the great mage shuffled and reset the planet.
The Great Restart
Sometimes also referred to as the Great Shuffle, this was the event in which the Great Mage wielded enough magic to shuffle the entire planet to look more like the present day planet of Sparkalia. During this event, people did not die, but forgot many of the reasons and selfish justifications to destroy each other and ruin the world permanently. Society changed, mountains moved, false faiths from the time wiped entirely. Only some had their memories preserved, put into a deep sleep until the Kethites determined their knowledge and teachings were necessary to advise the renewal of Sparkalia. Kethes claims that this lasted a period of nearly 30 days, some believe it may have been closer to 90 days by inferring from how some smaller events within the restart are referenced. The telling of the Great Restart and subsequent verification for those to see is known as the Founding Truth.
Era of Renewal - 1 AR to approximately 1384 AR
The Era of Renewal is the period referenced from the first year that the planet was restarted by the Great Restart about until some time after the arrival of the First Unknown in 1362 AR. Much of the Era of Renewal consisted of the refounding of states and establishment of new faiths as old ones were lost to the memory wipe done by the Great Restart. The first empires would rise, and the Founding Truth would spread, becoming ingrained in some faiths and ideologies to prevent the mistakes seen in the Era of Ruin that forced the coming of this new era. Perhaps most notable was the rise of the Calestelian Kingdom during this period as it took to the seas with the Kingdom of Prestore. Magic flourished and began to be learned once more.
Late in this era would see the arrival of the First Unknown in 1361 AR. The First Unknown were no different from humans native to Sparkalia and far kinder, hoping to start anew and in harmony. With them, they brought technologies that were never seen before. Some would begin to adopt them in trade with them and make their own. The new knowledge brought by the unknown of the newly founded Nourevian Chancellery in various fields improved life, something even welcomed by the Kethites of the time. It only became of worry when some began to drop the tradition of magic and even ignore the Founding Truth despite it being a proven fact. It became clear a new era may be dawning and that perhaps more mages of the past should join to advise against the actions being taken by other nations, marking the end in 1384 AR.
Era of Blemish - 1384 AR to Present
The Era of Blemish came about as the technology and science of other civilizations from completely different worlds spread across Sparkalia. Magic began to be neglected and nations drifted away from the very thing that had lifted them up and could continue doing so. In 247 years, there were few even magic dominant societies that didn’t have some influence from the new foreign concepts in technology introduced to them. Only one mage remained preserved in magic: The Great Mage.
