Blostland, officially the Republic of Blostland (Blostlandic: Republiken Blostländska), is a Parlimentary Republic located in eastern Euclea in Kylaris. It is bordered to the north by the North Sea, to the east by Floerian Sea, and to the south by Gulf of Assonaine. At 102,775 square kilometres (39,682 sq mi). The capital and largest city is Raudrena. Blostland has a total population of 6.10 million, and a population density of 67.1 inhabitants per square kilometre (173.8/sq mi), with about 75% of Blostlanders living in the south west coastal regions of the country where most large cities are located.

Blostland’s ecosystem is mainly forests, wide cold plains, and various swamps. Hundreds of tiny rivers run throughout the country acting as tributaries of the biggest river in Blostland Röd Flod which runs from the capital to the Skooglan mountains. Blostlands climate ranges from the humid continental south west, to the sub arctic far north, and the arid line islands, the country is known for its raining seasons with storms coming from the much warmer Gulf of Assonaine frequently hitting the island. Snow is almost a constant in provinces like Gronia and northern Farmark.

Weranic peoples are record as to been inhabiting Nordavia (Now Blostland) since around 11,000 years ago, with Weranic fishermen mixing with native islanders around 5,000 BCE becoming the Blōst, (Blostlandic: Blost) Skogreth, and Torgoth people groups; in the beginning of the 8th century the sea marauders known today to be Ghallish pirates would also establish a community on the island. An independent Blostlandic kingdom was founded during the early 9th century alongside two other Kingdoms after the collapse of the First North Sea Empire, fighting between the three would end with Blostland fully annexing the two other Kingdoms by the early 1200s. By the late 1400s and early 1500s Blostland would start expanding, attempting to compete with its western neighbors, even establishing the colony of Eldmark & ??? in Asteria and a renowned royal navy.

Blostland imperial power would begin to decline in the late 1600s with a line of bad monarchs and the colonies that it had collected revolting in the 17th century during the Asterian War of Indepence, the imperial era of Blostland would end with the Vallmo uprising in 1887 and the annexation of the line islands by Blostlad in 1889. By the turn of the 1900s Blostland would have both economic growth and new political instability with the rise of Functionalism both in the army and Nobility leading to the election of 1923 where the leader of the Fuctionalist party, Järnflotten, Karl Åberg; would become prime minister. After using his political power to ban Vallmo Parti in 1925 and create a new powerful government position known as Anförare; with Blostland becoming essentially a Fuctionalist dictatorship under Åberg not long after. Siding with the Fuctionalist entente Blostland would join the Great War fighting in various battles across all fronts, Blostland would be invaded by the Grand Alliance in 1934 with the war ending not long after in 1935. Directly after the war Blostland would declare the monachy’s role in the Functionalist government too grave of a crime; establishing a Republic in the wake of the postwar world.

Modern day Blostland is a unitary republic and a parliamentary democracy, with a 169-member unicameral Riksdag currently ruled by a government coalition called Gemenskap, consisting of Vallmoparti, Blostndare Centrum and Görn. It is a unitary state, divided into 9 provinces and 120 municipalities with the most populous province being Huvudstad Landskap. Blostland operates on a Scovernois social welfare system that provides many advanced government services such as universal health care, public transit, and free education for all levels of schooling. Blostland would join the Euclean Community on the 1st of January 1945 and the North Sea Forum not long after on the 13th of March 1945.

Etymology

Finding its origin in Proto-Weranic the name "Blostland" comes froms the word "blōstmô" meaning blossom. it is belived that over time the word was simplified into Blōst becoming the name of the tribe in western Nordavia that would eventually become Blostlanders.

Blostlandic Empire

The Kingdom of Blostland thanks to its isolation from the rest of Euclea would both separate from the Church and stay out of the Amendist Wars for the most part. This neutrality would allow Blostland to expand rapidly in the growing market of foreign exploitation, Blostland would participate for most of the early 1500s as a major supplier of shipping services for the Transvehemens slave and spice trade. It’s only with the establishment of the Blostlandic Colonial Company and the Asterian Amednist Society around 1538 that Blostland would begin to expand past simple shipping and into state sponsored imperialism. Much of this shift could be attributed to King Harold, who during his time as Prince of Skoogland would frequently sponsor the Blostlandic Colonial Company and Asterian Amednist Society in their early organizing efforts, his support would win the two credibility even with the then King, Gustav being not interested in Colonialism over shipping.

Once Harold had rose to power in 1540 the Blostlandic Colonial Company and Asterian Amednist Society were eager to begin a colonial expedition, their time would come in 1542 when King Harold would commission the two organizations to explore the Horn of Asteria in Asteria Superior and judge if the area picked was good enough for a colonial project. To lead the expedition King Harold would hire his close friend and naval officer, Hans Adelström, while unpopular with the leadership of both the Blostlandic Colonial Company and Asterian Amednist Society because of his rough attitude, he maintained his position because of his friendship with Harold and popularity amongst low class sailors.
