His Majesty's Foreign Office (HMFO), also referred to as The Foreign Office, is the foreign affairs service of the government of Aquitayne. It is tasked with representing and promoting Aquitaynian interests worldwide. This is regarded as one of the five most prestiguous positions in the Cabinet - the Great Offices of State - alongside those of the Prime Minister, Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Interior Secretary, and the Defense Secretary.

The HMFO is managed by a civil servant , the permanent under-secretary of state for foreign affairs, who also acts as the Head of His Majesty's Diplomatic Service. Ser Samuel Albris took office as permanent under-secretary on 15 February 2023.

Responsibilities

According to the HMFO website, the department's key responsibilities (as of 2022) are as follows:

  • Safeguarding Aquitayne's national security by countering terrorism and weapons proliferation, as well as working to reduce conflict.
  • Building Aquitayne's prosperity through increasing trade, opening markets, ensuring access to foreign goods and investment.
  • Supporting Aquitaynian nationals worldwide.
