Selene of Latium, Grand Duchess of Nenetsie (Selene Claudia Zoe Damiane Georgia; b. 22 July 1997) is a Latin princess by birth and the Grand Duchess of Nénetsie-du-Nord, by virtue of being the wife of Audric, Grand Duke of Nenetsie. Selene is the daughter of Latin Emperor Jason VI Augustus and his second wife Zoe Verrucosa.

Selene was born in Castellum ab Alba, as the fourth child of Emperor Jason VI Augustus (then Prince of Youth). She was educated at St Maria's School for Ladies and later St Vincent Preparatory, in Vannois. Selene studied at Galata College, Haenna until 2017 when she transferred to school after her marriage. She is fifth in line to the Latin throne. Since her marriage, Selene has undertaken numerous charitable endeavors, including the Saint-Nazaire Youth Symphony.

Early Life and Education

Birth and Naming

Selene was born at the Palace of Augustus in Palatine, Castellum on 22 July 1997 at 9:13 pm, the third child of Jason VI Augustus with his wife Zoe Verrucosa. Selene was the first of Jason VI Augustus's children born during his reign, affording Selene the right to bear the title purpurogenita, along with her Latin Imperial title. She was baptized at Sancta Sapientia on 19 August 1997, her godparents being Florentine Verrucosus (her mother's older brother) and Princess Alexandra, Duchess of Florentia (her father's younger sister). In an interview, Selene's mother stated that she went into labor without knowing Selene's gender. Rumors out of the Palace of Augustus reported name choices to be Leo or Alexander if she were a boy, with Alexandra or Sophia if the child were a girl. The announcement of her name as Selene came as a large surprise to most; however, it very popular in Imbrosian-speaking counties, with usage of the name rising in popularity after Selene's birth.

Education

Selene began her education at Saint Maria's School for Ladies in Castellum for her primary education. She became the first Latin prince or princess to attend a foreign boarding school when she enrolled at St. Vincent Preparatory in Vannois for secondary school. She attended St. Vincent Preparatory for the remainder of her secondary education. It was at St. Vincent's that she met her future husband, Audric, Grand Duke of Nenetsie.

She finished within the top 10% of her graduating secondary school class, graduating in spring 2015. She reportedly applied to Galata and Corpus Christi Colleges at the University of Haenna, as well as Castellum College and Saint Mary's University in Vannois. Selene made a public statement of her desires to attended Castellum, which made her enrollment at Galata College a major surprise to the press, with rumors soon following that she was not admitted to Castellum College. She dropped out of Galata before determining a concentration.

2016 succession crisis

Selene's father, Emperor Jason VI Augustus, was found dead in his personal office at the Palace of Augustus in Castellum. Selene was present at the palace for a gathering of the Imperial family at her father's request on November 3. Her whereabouts were unknown following the Scholarian entrance to the palace that night and she did not make a public appearance until November 5, where she appeared with her brother Michael and cousin, Princess Theodora of Ghant. She made one other public appearance at the National Hippodrome for a race on November 7, and did not reappear until December 3 where she was seen with Seredinian heir [[[Audric, Grand Duke of Nénetsie-du-Nord|Audric, Grand Duke of Nenetsie]] while wearing a walking cast on her right foot.

Public records compiled during the Imperial and Senatorial investigations into the causes and events of the succession crisis have been largely redacted around mentions of Selene. She has since refused to speak publicly

In 2013, Selene was enrolled at St. Vincent's Preperatory in Saint-Nazaire, Vannois, where she was fostered with the de Theiurry–Perignon family until finding more permanent student housing the following year. It is believed that Selene first met her future husband, then Grand Prince Audric of Seredinia. Selene and Prince Audric were first sighted together during a student event in 2013, though rumors of a relationship between the pair did not arise until 2014. Each nations respective Imperial office confirmed that Selene and Audric were in a relationship in July 2014, after Selene was photographed at a private beach near Saint-Nazaire with Audric and other members of House of Niort-Parthenay.

Engagement and wedding

The Vannoisian Imperial Family announced that Selene was expecting her first child on 18 October 2018. The child is expected to be born around June or July 2019, and if a boy will become heir to the throne.
