The Bureau of Vitosian Intelligence, commonly known as BVI, is an intelligence service of the government of Vitosium that centralizes all intelligence collection and analysis. The organization is responsible for collecting, analysing, reporting and disseminating intelligence on threats to Vitosium's national security, and conducting operations, covert and overt, within Vitosium and abroad. It also reports to and advises the Government of Vitosium on national security issues and situations that threaten the security of the nation. The headquarters is located at the Bruno A. B. Saivas Building in Rayburn, Kingsland, Vitosium.

Legal Authority

The BVI's mandate is established in Title 32 of the Vitosium Code, Section 361, which authorizes the three highest ranks of the organization to "appoint officials to detect and prosecute crimes against Vitosium." Other federal statutes give the BVI the authority and responsibility to investigate specific crimes.

Personnel

Hiring Process

To apply to become a BVI agent, one must be between the ages of 24 and 41, unless one is a war veteran, in which case one may apply after the age of 41. the applicant must also hold Vitosian citizenship, be of high moral character, have a clean record and at least three years of professional work experience prior to the application. In order to get a required BVI Top Secret Security Clearance, all potential BVI personnel must pass a series of background investigations, which are conducted by the Office of Personnel Management. Candidates must also pass a physical fitness test and a polygraph test.

BVI Directors

BVI Directors are appointed (nominated) by the Prime Minister of Vitosium and must be confirmed by the Senate of Vitosium to serve a term of office of ten years, subject to resignation or removal by the Prime Minister at their discretion before their term ends. Additional terms are allowed following the same procedure
