The Shodiax Piruen Iede is the highest league in the Shodiax League System and its eight levels, and is the major football league for the nation of Hiblund. Hiblund itself is renown for its sporting district, and the Shodiax Piruen Iede is the head of its popularity. The league was founded along with the system in 1953, after Frarstizk's Independence had caused the break-up of the Harletical Fiutvel Iede and soon afterward the Sciedfelt Stretch. The league has always consisted of 18 clubs, the best of which winning the Shodiax Disvaii.

Early Years

The founding of the Shodiax League System was the endmark of the Sciedfelt Stretch in 1953, which meant that the Shodiax Piruen Iede would now be referred to as the major football league in Hiblund. This brought on huge expectations for the league's success, as many of the former Hiblundiiun Harletical Iede clubs were now once again in the same league. The very first season's seeding was uncertain coming into the season, which was finally settled only a couple months before the very first season. This was determined by the Harletical clubs automatically starting in the Piruen, and 6 slots would be left for new clubs, which was further determined by a very short season on 24 clubs, each playing one match with every other club, and the top 6 would begin in the Piruen. This was the plan, but after Thres Sprevin decided to voluntarily start in the Vaitrel, a seventh club would start in the Piruen, that club being Lardes FC.

The seasons themselves were not given too much attention in their beginning years, but would eventually gain more and more ground as its goal to access a much more even playing field was looking to be successful. Fortunately for their efforts to include relegation, it took no longer than a few years to let the hectic and unbalanced playing field to level out. Sponsors back in those days were scarce, but that was soon to change once the Piruen held its ground and became a stable league.

Integration into the Shodiax System

The Piruen Iede is at the very top of the Shodiax League, of which there is no internal promotion. The bottom two clubs of each season are sent to the Shodiax Vaitrel Iede, and to match, the top two clubs of the Vaitrel later promote to the Piruen. The Piruen and Vaitrel leagues are the only two Hiblundiiun football leagues to be considered truly professional, as leagues below are classified as Semi-Pro or lower.

Although the Piruen may not have any internal promotion spots, they do host international qualification spots for the best of a season. If a club finishes in the top 5, the club will participate in the following summer in the Anterian Champion's League Cup, a branch of the International Football Association that includes competitors from all over Anteria. If a club is in the top 4, they will also participate in the Assilic Ciumervaii a month prior to the ACLC, which is a tournament between the best clubs in Hiblund and Frarstizk, the latter hosting 4 participants from the Frarstizk A Liig Dofriɣ.

All clubs that play in the Piruen Iede are also eligable to compete in the HFZ Kurn, a tournament of 64 teams, all inside of Hiblund. All of these competitions are not completely mandatory, but they are encouraged via pay-outs for participation.

Format

The format of a typical Piruen season is relatively simple, but forces respective play to be made in every game. Every club will play each other in two legs, one home and one away. Relatedly speaking, the order of the clubs a team will play against will be the same in the first and second half of the season. This sums up to a total of 34 matches played per team, and points are rewarded as so- 3 for a victory, 1 for a draw, and 0 for a defeat. If the sum of a club's points are equal with another team, the below tiebreaker procedure is followed-

  • Goal differential
  • Goals for
  • Head-to-head
  • Away goals
  • Head-to-head goals
  • Head-to-head away goals
  • Recent Results
  • Least Yellow Cards

If a tie is still the case after all of these measures are applied, it is placed alphabetically. If it is the end of the season and the tiebreakers cannot determine the club with the advantage, a match in a neutrally-placed venue will occur to break the tie.

Regulations

Regulations on clubs are quite strict, attempting to give all professional clubs a good chance of succeeding. The Shodiax System, does in fact have a heavy luxury tax system in order to regulate how much a team can spend once it exceeds $150M. With this, there is no actual salary cap, which leaves some clubs to be less fortunate than others. Along with this, singular owners are not allowed to give a share to a club of their choice at all unless that individual is the head coach, which still holds strict regulations on just how much that may be. Salary is usually funded by sponsors, with the highest a company can give is $100M. Clubs are not given much room when attempting to go into debt, as interest for sports teams are exceptionally high. This different way of regulating football clubs has lead to a more even playing field, but still allows for dynasties such as Vovilveante XCT to exist for a decent period of time.

Reach

Due to Hiblund's great interest in sports, the viewership in the nation is huge, as well as many other nations taking interest and adding to the count. The average attendance to a Piruen game is incredibly large, with an average of 50,000. Viewership, especially in an ANF-VOX match, is one of the leading events to acquire mass attention on TV. Most of these vierers live in Hiblund, but many international broadcasters will bring a match to TV in another nation as well. The major broadcaster inside of Hiblund is Shodiax Senversaan, which carries large liscences and broadcasts all non-primetime or non-local matches. All other matches are broadcasted by the major company, HSBN. On matchdays which occur during the week, or the final matchday, they are all broadcasted on Shodiax Senversaan.

Day Local Time Broadcaster
Friday 8:00 PM HSBN (1 game)
Saturday 2:00 PM Shodiax Senversaan (4 games)
HSBN (1 game- most local)
Saturday 5:00 PM Shodiax Senversaan (1 game)
Saturday 8:00 PM HSBN (1 game)
Sunday 4:00 PM HSBN (1 game)

International broadcasters will vary, but the most prominent of which is NSB, which is from Frarstizk, a closely related nation. International broadcasting accounts for about 20% of viewership overall, as Hiblund's population is very small.

2015-2019

During these years, all levels of the Shodiax League were paused due to the Vaitrel Iede Protests. In these years there were some clubs that were saved from relegation, and some clubs grew in size because of some of the laid off players from the lower leagues.

2020-2023

The years following the Vaitrel Iede Protests came with strange behavior from the lower leagues. This called the higher-ups to consider expansion to 20 teams in both the Piruen and Vaitrel, which was finalized by the end of the 2022-23 season. The 2023-24 season will come with three automatic promotions from the Vaitrel, and only one automatic relegation to the Vaitrel. A playoff between the 17th placed Piruen and the 4th placed Vaitrel team will play to decide who will play in the 2024-25 Piruen and Vaitrel Seasons.
