Papa's Private Army or known formally as No. 1 Demolition Squadron is a unit composing of allied special forces volunteers from the Erebonian Empire, Great Lucis, Zanarkand, and Rubrum. The unit itself is predominantly classified as an Erebonian Special Forces unit. It was set-up in October 1995 by then-Major Carl Regnitz. Papa's Private Army is one of the several raiding units formed in response to the Calvard Republic's aggression to Eastern Erebonia.
The PPA, along with the Erebonian Special Air Service, serves as two of Erebonia's special forces units. The Railway Military Police, while considered to be an elite unit, is not part of Erebonia's Special Forces units as the RMP is mostly delegated to security and patrolling through Erebonia's vast railway system.
A close friend of Regnitz, then-Colonel Kiriya Kitagawa served as the unit's first instructor in 1995.
