Project Omega (Weranian: Projekt Omega) was the codename of a series of stay-behind networks that operated in northern Euclea from the conclusion of the Great War until the 1990's. Organised primarily by the Weranian Strategic Intelligence Service (SND) and the Estmerish Special Service (SS) Project Omega was designed in the contingency of an invasion of north Euclean countries by Kirenia and other countries in the Mutual Assistance Organisation (MAO) through the creation of anti-socialist paramilitary groups but also had the role of using such groups within countries to engage in harassment, terror attacks, torture, massacres and assassinations targeting left-wing groups.
Project Omega begun during the liberation of northern Euclea from Entente forces at the conclusion of the Great War as Weranian forces sought to ensure that Kirenian influence in those countries would be stunted in the post-war period through the creation of anti-socialist clandestine groups. Countries where these stay-behind networks operated included Estmere, Caldia, Alsland, Azmara and Borland. These stay-behind networks would in the post-war period play a role in the subversion and repression of left-wing groups in these countries, particularly compared to Gaullica where no evidence of such networks was uncovered.
Project Omega remained a secret for much of the post-war period. Aspects of it were first publicly uncovered by Caldish Taoiseach Mícheál Ó Muilleoir in 1979 although at the time it was dismissed as a conspiracy theory. It was uncovered in XXX in 1997 although whether the networks were still in operation at this date is uncertain.
To date only XXX and XXX have held investigations into Project Omega with the Weranian government rejecting the existence of the operation. In 1997 Weranian Chancellor Wolfgang Löscher dismissed accusations that the Weranian government had engaged in state terrorism or sponsored false flag attacks calling such accusations "anti-liberal propaganda".
