Duke Constantine Tarpeius (Gnaeus Tarpeius Montanus Constantinus Apollos; 12 January 1936 – 28 June 2016) was a Latin statesman, soldier, and one time Ambassador of Latium to Lyncanestria from 1994 until 2001. Tarpeius is most well known for his marriage to Princess Zoe of Latium, and being the brother-in-law of Empress Diana Augusta, and for the achievements of his children. He is the father of Latium's first female Consul, Maria Tarpeia.

Biography

Tarpeius was born on 12 January 1937 to parents Michael Tarpeius and Pericleia Vitruvia at his family estate of Villa d'Vigueria. He was the oldest of five children, including one younger brother. Little is know of his early life before the Social War other than he was educated by a series of tutors until 1944 when the war broke out. At the onset of the Social War, Tarpieus was 8 years old and send to Adrianople where he was placed under the care of the Claudii along with the then heir presumptive to the Latin throne Princess Zoe of Latium and other noble children of the Imperial war effort. In 1945, Tarpeius was sent to Utica where he was fostered by John Sulpicius, Duke of Utica. At the conclusion of the war, Tarpeius was returned to his father's care along with Princess Zoe who was raised in Duke Michael's household.

At the age of 16, Tarpeius joined the Latin Navy and enrolled in Imperial Naval College at Pola in 1953. He graduated in 1956 and was commissioned as a Decurion. His naval career lasted until 1965 after reaching the rank of Centurion Second Grade and entered the Naval reserve.

Tarpeius first served as Propraetor of Rutupiae from April 1983 after being appointed to the post by Diana Augusta, which he served until his appointment of Ambassador to Lyncanestria. He served as Ambassador from 1994 until 2001 and is the longest serving Latin Ambassador to Lyncanestria at 7 years. His selection as Ambassador is widely attributed to his eldest daughter's, Fausta, status as wife to the heir apparent to the federal state of Burgoy. During his time as ambassador, his youngest daughter, Silvia, became betrothed to and later married Georges, Count of Prévert, eldest son of Lyncanestrian royal and statesman, Prince Georges-Antoine, Duke of Barzonmarque

Marriage

Tarpeius married Princess Zoe of Latium on 3 July 1960 at the Pantheon, in Castellum, at a ceremony officiated by Archbishop Leontius Afra. Over the course of their 40 year marriage, Tarpeius and Princess Zoe had five children: Fausta, Maria, Rhea, Alexandra, and Silvia; and 20 grandchildren.
