French is the mother tongue of approximately 30,000 people in Seketan and is estimated to be spoken as a second language by at least half a million. Although French has no official status in Seketan, the language is often used in for academics, business, and diplomacy.

An overwhelming majority of native speakers live in Conelibek and its surrounding area. A number of institutions in the Conelibek area, including Société Conelibek and the University of North Conelibek, function at least partially in French. French is the historical language of the Seketese Jewish community in Conelibek, mainly descended from French Jewish refugees who emigrated during World War II.

French is also spoken in other countries of the Nelborne, as the second most popular foreign language behind English.
