Gatovita is the capital city of Vitosium. Founded in 1848 as Colburn, and incorporated as Gatovita in 1886, the city has evolved into the political centre of Vitosium.

As of 2020, the estimated population was 9,200,000, making it the most populous city in the country. Additionally, Gatovita has the most educated population among Vitosian cities.

History

Gatovita, then known as Colburn, was planned and developed by Benjamin Cabrali, Calisto Palacino, David Mendes, and Gustavo Bouveia in 1844 in a scheme to move the capital from Etherset to a more convenient location. The landscape architect was Fulvio Saltoni-Famara. All three branches of Vitosium's federal government are centered in the city: executive, legislative and judiciary. Gatovita also hosts 9 foreign embassies.

City Districts

The city is split up into many districts.

Embarvia District

This district houses the embassies from other countries.

Colitalla District

The Colitalla District is an older residential neighbourhood, which contains many vacated industrial buildings, some now used for movie production, and others repurposed for studios and shops. In the early 19th century, most Colitalla residents found employment at one of the local breweries or brickyards. Some of the original workers' cottages can still be seen in the area.

Gallaporta District

This is known as Gatovita's shopping district. It is located west of the Marianta District. Gallaporta includes the market buildings and open-air market along Cabrali, Barbosa, Rosa and Wellend street. The district itself is regulated by a City of Vitosium municipal services corporation named The Gallaporta Corporation, which also operates the smaller south-end Coppio Market located in the Lamorni District. The corporation is run by a seven-member board of directors. The Market Building, which is owned by The Gallaporta Corporation and can be found on Cabrali Street, is open year-round, and open-air stalls offering fresh produce are operated in the warmer months. The Gallaporta District has been an area of constant change, adapting to the increasingly cosmopolitan nature of downtown Gatovita, as well as trends in Vitosian society as a whole.

Lamorni District

This is one of Gatovita's five residential districts. This one in particular houses the smaller shopping area known as "Coppio Market".

Limelight City

This is where the many film and TV studios are. A notable TV studio found here is Noble.

Marianta District

This district holds the parliament buildings, including the Cardassio Parliamentary Building and the Vitosian W.E.D.A. Headquarters, as well as the museums. This is a very popular tourist spot for those wanting to know the history of the country. The district is also marked by a mix of residential and commercial properties. The main streets such as Guandomar Street and Vitolaga Street are largely commercial, while the smaller ones, notably Felgueirca and Potecci are more residential. The southern portion of the district contains newer infill and town house developments, as well as low-rise and high-rise apartment buildings.

Radiato District

This district holds many unique bars and restaurants.
