Aquilifer Naval Engineering is the oldest and largest military shipbuilding firm in Amalfi and one of the largest in Borealia. It is the main contractor for the navies of both Amalfi and Amador.
The company traces its history back to the 6th century BC, when it was known as Auctores Navium Corylanes ('Corylan Builders of Ships'). It was heavily patronised by the princes of Saruvia, being considered the best shipwright in the heavily maritime city, and its reputation carried it forward into the Triple Federation and its successor, the Confederation of Amalphia, as the favoured supplier for all the alliance's fleets.
Aquilifer's presence in Amador dates from the 1800s, when it opened its first foreign yard there, though it had maintained close links with the city-state's shipwrights for some time before. The company was also involved in several exchange programmes with prominent Arimathean firm Alukiri and Malle.
