Dogmana is a continent located in the western half of the northern hemisphere of Sunalaya. It is bordered by the Arctic Ocean to the north and the Lutetian Ocean from all other sides. Dogmana covers an area of 9,680,960 square kilometres (3,737,840 square miles). Some people don't even consider it a continent at all but a collection of islands, the largest of which is the mainland territory of Aznazia and the second largest is the Island of Rhodevus.

The first humans on Dogmana were reached in the last glacial age through the Cantabraian Ice Bridge approximately 16,000 to 40,000 years ago. Little is known about these first settlers other the few stories and cultures who have survived after the Ventismariens arrived in the continent.

Regions

Dogmana is ultimately separated into two large landmasses, Rhodevus and Aznazia. These two together encompass more than half of the landmass. The rest is divided between thousands of small islands. Between the three independent countries on the continent, the islands are distributed between them and other Ventismarien countries.

Etymology

Dogmana was named from a bastardization of the Laaban dialect word 'Dogtnabaman' which means 'Place of Many Oceans'. The Dogmaban Passage also gained its name from this word.

Geography

The continent of Dogmana is comprised of hundreds of islands, with the islands making up mainland Aznazia and mainland Rhodevus being the largest. The Dogmaban Passage between Rhodevus and Aznazia has a depth at only 600 meters at its deepest point and 30 meters at its shallowest. The area, called Dogmaban was once an area of land which connected the two landmasses. It was flooded by rising sea levels around 6500–6200 BCE.
