  • The New Cold War is the name given to a period of geopolitical tension between the Englean Empire, Sunrisia and their respective allies. The name "New Cold War" is used due to this period occurring after the end of the War of the Brush Fires, which was known as the "Cold War" lasting from 1947 to 1993.

    Background

    The Late 90s

    Early 2000s

    Late 2000s

    2010s

A sharp increase in hostility between the factions.

    2020s

The Conflict on the Island of Vesvai ends with Vesvai separating from the Union of Oblaren and Vesvai. Vesvai's northern region of Herbora (Green Coast) separates from the independent Vesvai and stays within the Union. Union of Oblaren and Vesvai becomes the Union of Oblaren and Herbora.

Young political outsider and moderate reformist Léma Tempéstĕr gets elected President of Sunrisia. An easing of tensions with the international community begins before a more nationalist, isolationist and conservative hardliner Sálût Érátân gets elected as the next President of Sunrisia, thus "reinvigorating" a more nationalist and isolationist foreign policy with a return to previous international tensions and sharpening of new ones.

    Revolutionary wave of 2021

    Coral Revolution in Edereon

Coral Revolution, a peaceful themed revolution in Edereon, overthrows a nationalist-leaning government and installs a more moderate and internationally open one with scepticism towards an alliance with Sunrisia, Corentian integration, organizations such as MDAA and SOWEFTA and with sympathy towards the world's autocratic regimes.

Flug movement, protests in Daredland and the Second Daredi Revolution

Several separate waves of protests have been held in Daredland continuously over suspicions that the government led by the Klare Sicht alliance was using criminal framing tactics to repress political rivals and opposition in Daredland. The most recent wave of the protests was taken over by the emerging Flug political movement, which has been calling on the government to resign. After the escalation of protests into violent clashes between police and protesters in the capital city Freihat, a State of Emergency was declared in Freihat. During the clashes, ex-Vice Chancellor of the Daredi Confederacy and ex-Confederal Minister of Justice and Police of the Daredi Confederation Felix Gudatan was broken out of detainment. After hundreds of injuries on both sides, the Konföderaleswehr was called in to intervene in Freihat but declared a military mutiny. A new round of government and opposition talks was held after which the Daredi government agreed to resign in its' entirety while all positions were handed over to members of the Flug movement, creating an interim government until snap elections.

    Pameravan Revolution

Pameravan Revolution leads to the overthrow of the separatist absolute monarchy in Pamerava, a withdrawal of Pamerava from the Strategic Ventismar Defence Council and an Association Agreement with the Union of Ventismarian Nations, and a return to Baggnagia as an autonomous territory.

Gates to Corentia movement, Crimson Revolution and Civil War in Vesvai

In a member of ROVAA Vesvai, the Crimson Revolution, a themed revolution largely backed by Sunrisia and other members of MDAA and SOWEFTA and having escalated from pro-Corentian protests in Vesvai led by the Gates to Corentia movement, helps overthrow an autocratic leadership of Vesvai. The overthrown regime was originally aligned with MDAA, SOWEFTA and partner states of those organizations during the Vesvaite War of Independence, as a body of separatist rebel forces, but later had fallen out with the Corentian bloc, because a dictatorship was established in Vesvai after the nation re-established independence. After the overthrow of the dictatorship, the Revolutionary Council of Free Vesvai took over power in Vesvai, while a large portion of the military defected to it and became loyal to the new transitional revolutionary government. However, not all of the military defected and supported the new transitional revolutionary government and a lot of it remained loyal to the overthrown regime. The loyalist military began mobilizing to wage a counter-revolution against the new transitional revolutionary government, while defecting forces began preparing to resist the attempt by the loyalists to remove the revolutionaries. The situation de facto developed into a Vesvaite Civil War. An international coalition of Baggnagia, Creperia, Daredland, New Vesvai and Sunrisia launched a military intervention in support of the transitional revolutionary government against the counter-revolutionaries of the ousted regime's loyalist forces. Edereon, now led by a less pro-Sunrisian and pro-Corentian government since its' own Coral Revolution, has refused to join the coalition and, on the contrary, diplomatically expressed support for the ousted regime and counter-revolutionaries in Vesvai, even flirting with the idea of providing unspecified type of support for the old regime's counter-revolutionary loyalist forces. The opposition in Edereon has criticized the new government for refusing to support the democratic revolution in Vesvai and to join the coalition, while a lot of volunteers from Edereon began to travel to Vesvai to support the coalition and revolutionaries. At the same time, the events of the Crimson Revolution and the Civil War in Vesvai, provoked border skirmishes between Vesvai and the Union of Oblaren and Herbora.

Openness movement in Creperia and aftermath

The Openness political movement, which advocated for a move away from nationalism and isolationism, held daily street demonstrations around Creperia, which involved the capital city Miraya and practically all major cities. Eventually, the movement overtook the country and started holding daily demonstrations, practically threatening to encourage strikes, if the government did not listen to the movement's demands. The Creperian government responded and agreed to hold talks with Openness. Round table talks led to an agreement between the government and Openness, that a snap parliamentary election would be held, where Openness would participate as an opposition force. In the snap parliamentary election, Openness gained one of the leading positions and formed a new coalition government with several other parties. Eventually, the Office of Prosecutor General of Creperia with the help of information provided by Creperian intelligence agencies accused Openness movement of having received foreign funding from countries outside, MDAA, SOWEFTA and overall Corentian bloc that Creperia was part of. Protests led by opposition parties began. Other parties left a coalition with Openness and withdrew into the opposition, leading to a government collapse. Those parties joined the anti-government protests. The Prime Minister of Creperia from Openness resigned and a snap parliamentary election was declared.

    May Revolution in Edereon

May Revolution, previously referred to as the Spring Revolution, escalated as an uprising against an increasingly authoritarian government which was itself brought to power in the aftermath of the Coral Revolution. In Edereon, a government brought to power through new elections following the events of the Coral Revolution, ended up facing several parallel uprisings against itself. The first protests began in opposition to the government's plans to launch a new nuclear program and create a new nuclear arsenal after Edereon had completed total denuclearization under previous governments. The second protests occurred over the worsening economy because of Edereon's straining relations with traditional allies in SOWEFTA and MDAA through the government's attempts to distance Edereon from the Corentian bloc. Economic strain also developed because of the aforementioned controversial plans to develop nuclear weapons again. The third protests broke out in the autonomous region of Ocidas after Prime Minister of Edereon Ármand Tungstenãn suggested that Ocidas did not need an autonomous status and that Edereon needed a more centralized and unitary system to keep the country more united and to protect territorial integrity. By March 18, all three separate protests united against the government, escalating into a political and constitutional crisis not seen since the Coral Revolution. The new protest wave was unofficially dubbed the "Spring Revolution" but it would not become a mainstream term until later. The protests had been largely led by old opposition parties and new ones, as well as by NGOs, civil activists and average citizens. There has been no centralized leadership identified. A conspiracy exists that Sunrisia has been influencing the protests from "behind the scenes." Sunrisia and West Zilveren Berg helped in the diplomatic resolution of the crisis, but the government of Edereon was to still forced to give up power. Instead of "Spring Revolution", the events would go on to be named "May Revolution" because of the month when it ended. May Revolution essentially became a counter-revolution to the previous Coral Revolution. After May Revolution, Sunrisia and Edereon went back to being allies like before and Edereon embraced being in MDAA, SOWEFTA and the Corentian bloc once again. May Revolution could be considered a themed revolution.
