Lauri Paavolainen (22 May 1915) is a retired Balambian officer who served during the Estharian Civil War, the Second Europan War, and in the War of Lorican Aggression until his retirement.

Paavolainen had no interest in war, and was instead hoped to be a Chemist. But when the Balambian War broke out, he was forced out of college and was conscripted into the army. Paavolainen would not be without any use as his commander officers noted his skills in creating improvised explosives and tools. As a result, he was recommended for transfer to the Vuorijalkaväkirykmentti. As the war progressed, he would find army life much to his suiting after all that when the Estharian Civil War ended, he volunteered and followed Cpt. Yukio Kushineda Jr. within the LRDG along with his fellow Balambians Harri Rokka and Kaiho Väisänen.

Following the war, he settled in Lucis and married fellow SOE operative Emily Duncan. They would have 4 children together. He is the great-grandfather of Tuomas Albin Paavolainen, an ILESOC operative.
