Rebecca Claire Arnott (born August 3rd, 1976) is the current President of Kerlile. She is the leader of the Reform Party, the only opposition party in Kerlile, created in 2019, which favours a lessening of the totalitarian nature of the Kerlian regime.

On August 28th, 2018, Arnott proposed a vote of no confidence in Anita Patel as Chair of the Council of Kerlile, an unprecedented move, which failed. This event is seen by many as the beginning of the schism within the Council, which culminated in the unexpected creation of an opposition party.

Early Life & Education

Rebecca Arnott was born on the 3rd August 1978 to Councillor Carla Arnott of Kerlile. She was the eldest daughter of Carla, and as such immediately became the Arnott heir. Her sister, Claire, was born three years later. She was raised in Maytown, Kerlile, with the other descendants of members of the Council of Kerlile.

Early Career

Arnott did not attend university, instead working for the Council visiting Kerlian embassies across the International Democratic Union to report to the Council the effectiveness of the ambassadors and their staff. She did this for two years, then began working in the Kerlian foreign ministry until the death of her mother by suicide when she was 26, in 2002. She then succeeded her mother as Councillor Arnott.

Council of Kerlile

Arnott is a known reformist who desires to give men more rights in Kerlile and reduce the totalitarian nature of the regime. She is considered to be the leader of the Reform Party, one of only two legal political parties in Kerlile, the other being the Women's Party of Kerlile. She is allies on the Council with three other Councillors who are members of the Reform Party: Jennifer Hale, Carmen Robinson and Electra Georgiou.

In August 2018, she proposed a vote of no confidence in Councillor Anita Patel as Chair of the Council, a position traditionally held by the longest-serving Councillor. The vote failed, supported only by Councillors Hale and Robinson.

In June 2019, she announced her intention to stand for President of Kerlile, a position appointed by the Council from amongst its membership. She promised that, if elected, she will enact the five policies stated by the Reform Party as their priorities. She was elected President of Kerlile on the 1st July 2019.

Personal life

Arnott's hobbies include reading and researching foreign politics. She has an extensive library within her property, which is said to include the largest collection of non-Kerlian literature in Kerlile.

Her family life is complex: her mother killed herself when Rebecca was 26, following poor mental health. Rumours her mother was held captive by the Democratic Kerlian State during the Kerlian Civil War have never been confirmed. Her daughter, Rosemary, was born in 2000.
