Turaehoc III (4 August 1869 – 22 September 1929) was Emperor of Andamonia from 1913 until his death. The first monarch since the fall of the Second Dynasty in 1844, he had been born in exile in Paradise City. His early reign was marked with relatively rapid economic growth that stabilised Andamonia. After seven years of peace, he found himself leading Andamonia into the Great Astyrian War, which cost over a million Andamonian lives in conflict with Txekrikar and Cassonne. His last years were spent trying to rebuild the ravaged west and south of his empire.
Early life
Turaehoc was born in Paradise City, at a time when the Tlacapila dynasty was in exile in the Empire of Exponent. In 1892, his father was invited to return to Andamonia to replace the failing republican government, but they chose to stay as Andamonia devolved into civil war. In the last days of the Second Republic, pro-monarchy sentiment reached new highs and Turaehoc, whose father had died in 1905, corresponded with sympathisers to prepare for his return to Andamonia.
Reign
Turaehoc initially hoped to rebuild Andamonia with peacetime economic growth. He found himself at odds with the ambitious Hanrel Mata, who quickly rose through the ranks of the Andamonian military. Mata pushed Turaehoc into organising an invasion of Txekrikar that would tie much of the Great Astyrian War into one conflict.
During his reign, Turaehoc tended to shun public life. "He was never a stellar orator," one of his aides later recalled, "although the rehearsals with Hanrel [Mata] gave him a confidence that carried him through the conferences. His real talent was as an administrator. If Turaehoc had been given the chance to prove himself, Andamonia would have found peace with its neighbours. He was wasted on that war."
