Uhtred of Deepdale was Eorl of Nortymba, the geographically largest canton of Brytene. As Lord Ealdorman, he was the most senior member of the Witenagmot following the Bretwalda, Cenwulf Teorell. Elected at only 25 years old, he was relatively young for his position. He was murdered on June 22nd 2015, in the capital city of Ghant, by unidentified assailants. Ghantish authorities are still investigating the incident.
Early Life
Uhtred was born on the 7th February 1986 to Percival and Jea of Deepdale. Percival was a mine foreman and Jea was a sculptor. Uhtred was a quiet student, gregarious and naturally gifted, though he was frequently reported to be somewhat lazy by his tutors. Upon leaving schoo, he enrolled in officer training at the Arkengarth Academy. His younger brother, Tancred, died in a traffic accident at the age of 18.

At the Academy, Uhtred's tutors earmarked him for the parachutist programme.
He passed the airborne programme with high marks, earning the rank of Lieutenant. Following several months of operations, including a promotion to the rank of Centurion, Uhtred was injured in the leg by gunfire during an engagement with Dhechnian forces. He was given a leave of absence to recuperate, but his leg was permanently damaged and so he was given an honourable discharge.
Political career
He ran as Thegn for the Dale Foothills Riding in December 2005 and was elected with 38% of the popular vote. Whilst Thegn of the Dale Foothills Riding, he primarily focused on reinvesting in public transport and infrastructure. His platform claimed to provide improved service and connections to the towns and villages of the area. According to a census report, six villages and towns with a previously-diminishing population reversed their population decline during his tenure.
In 2011, he ran for the position of Eorl of Nortymba. His campaign focused on his military career and his modest roots. He was endorsed by Cenwulf Teorell which resulted in a spike in his approval ratings, and he won with a narrow outright majority, receiving 52% of the total votes cast after one of his opponents retired from the race.
Policies
Uhtred joined the Socialist National Party in 2008, and has publicly stated that he believes in the "moral duty of the Confederacy to protect the oppressed and the downtrodden both at home and abroad."
Domestically, Uhtred stated his support for a strong government with a large healthcare and education budget. He also called for the Rihtgemot to re-introduce policies of deterrence, and stated that he felt the justice system was a soft touch.
On the international level Uhtred was in favour of military intervention on a limited scale, and stated his opposition to the policies of the Santiago Anti-Communist Treaty Organisation several times.
Death
On the 22nd of June 2015, following his attendance at a ball in Ghish, capital city of Ghant, to celebrate the wedding of Prince Michael of Dakmoor and Crown Princess Jocasta of New Edom, he was murdered in the streets of Ghish by unknown assailants wielding swords. Two of his attackers were also killed during the incident, but as yet Ghantish authorities have been unable to ascertain their identities.
Personal life
Uhtred never married. He was known to be an enthusiastic chef, and owned a brewery just outside of Eoferwic, supplying the international Green Dragon Tavern chain with blonde beers and mead.
