Kurato, of Stratos II, is the larger of the two significant moons of Stratos, with an orbital period of just shorter than 13 and a half days around the planet.

Formation

Kurato is thought to have originated in the outer reaches of the Tendor System just beyond the orbit of Tsanfau as a terrestrial planetoid, before its orbit was destabilized and made extremly elliptical, reaching possibly as far as within the orbit of Anteria, before being picked up by Stratos during a close flyby of the planet, while its orbit was stabilized by Loftuslo.

The hypothesis came with the fact that the moon has high axial tilt, an inclination more similar to that of the ecliptic than Strato's equator, and the fact that its composition is more similar to that of the outer asteroids than that of both Stratos and Loftuslo.

Orbit and Rotation

Kurato is tidally locked to Stratos, similar to that of Loftuslo, and completes an orbit around the planet about every 13.5 days. Due to the high inclination of its orbit around Stratos, a more than 50% of the moon's surface is visible from the planet unlike most other tidally locked moons.
