Grammar

Nouns

A theater poster for an inscenation of the Suidenlander play The Makropulos Affair, utilizing the words Θρινυμ (Thing) and Θρινητ (Group) to create a double meaning. The phrases can mean the name of the play, as well as "by the people to the people"

The nouns are divided into four grammatical genders (technically three genders and "indifferent" nouns, which have a gender independent of the declination). Those nouns are:

  • Masculine - Total of 3 declinations, out of which two are usually grouped together for being almost identical, with one utilizing -ο- and the other -ω- in the suffix
  • Feminine - Total of 2 declinations
  • Neuter - Total of 2 declinations
  • Indifferent - Total 3 declinations, the -ητ stem declination is the only declination in which the prefix changes along with the suffix

The nouns are declined using 5 total cases:

The nouns are declined in a total of three grammatical numbers

  • Singular
  • Paucal - Originally a form of the Dual, that later expanded to include all the numbers from 2 to about 5. Its use is not standardized and in the numbers 4, 5, 6, 7 and more used rather sporadically to show "a few of things". Some dialects do not use the Pacal and utilize Plural instead
