The Formula A World Championship is an Aeian motor racing championship for Formula A cars which would be recognised by the governing body of international motorsport, the Societat Internationale d'Automobila (SIA), as the highest class of competition for open-wheel racing cars. The competition has taken place since the inaugural event in 1952 and has been held on a yearly basis since then. Each year comprises a season which contain a number of races, known as Grand Prix which are held worldwide on purpose built circuits and public roads.
Formula A cars are the fastest road course racing cars in the world, owing to very high cornering speeds achieved through the generation of large amounts of aerodynamic downforce. Formula As cars race at speeds of up to approximately 375 km/h (233 mph) with engines currently limited in performance to a maximum of 15,000 rpm. The cars are capable of lateral acceleration in excess of six g-forces in corners. The cars are very dependent on electronics, aerodynamics, suspension and tyres. The composition and construction of cars has changed dramatically over time since the inaugural 1952 event.
The upcoming 2018 championship is due to be contested over a number of Grands Prix held in different countries throughout Aeia. Drivers and teams are scheduled to compete for the titles of Aeian Drivers' Champion and Aeian Constructors' Champion respectively.
