The wedding of King Kenneth IV and Louis MacTomlin took place on 24 October 2015 in St Kolumba's Cathedral.

This followed the couple's announcement of their engagement on 30 June 2015 with the actual engagement taking place on 20 May. The ceremony was broadcast on GBF live.

Kenneth IV is the reigning Monarch of Glytter and is one of the few monarchs to be married while already reigning. The two first met at the season finale of the 2010 season of the Yes Factor, a popular Glytteronian singing competition. MacTomlin is a member of No Direction, which was one of the three finalists that season. The two began an informal relationship around early 2012 and formally began dating later that year. They were first pictured kissing in November 2012 while at a birthday party for a mutual friend. MacTomlin and Kenneth's engagement was announced on 30 June 2015. The coupled cited wishes for a short engagement and the wedding was set to take place several months later in St Kolumba's Cathedral on 24 October 2015.

Preparations and finances

The wedding itself cost about €12 million which was paid half by the Glytteronian Royal Family and half by the Glytteronian government from tax money. This was criticized by some citizens and politicians alike. However, many within the country, including the leader of the Leftist Liberals Ivan Melnikov defended the decision.

Celebrations

On 14 July 2015 it was decided that the days between the King's birthday on 11 October and the wedding date on 24 October would be Love Spálgleann 2015 days. With festivities for residents and visitors such as music, art, culture, food, design, and history, the city of Spálgleann had hoped for sponsor deals to pay for the arrangements. It ended up being an immense success and many of the events were attended by members of the Royal Family, including the couple.

On 22 October, the Royal Congress of Glytter honoured the couple with a gala performance at Spálgleann Concert Hall. Performers at the gala included Eithne, Danny McGinty, and Deirdre Ní Ríain.

Wedding service

The wedding service began at 15:30 local time in St Kolumba's Cathedral, with around 1,100 guests present. The music in the ceremony was headed by Aengus Quinlan, court organist and organist for the Cathedral Parish of Spálgleann. He was also in charge of the music during the wedding of Kenneth's parents in 1986.

The service was conducted by Conall MacHaynes, Archbishop of Spálgleann. He was assisted by Fintan O'Reilly, Royal Court Chief Chaplain, and Dr Deirdre Quinlan, Bishop of Invertwinc. The Great Marriage Litany was sung by Grania O'Connell, Dean of the Cathedral

The first piece of music that was played was written by John McLennan especially for the couple as a gift from the Royal Glytteronian Academy of Music.

Kenneth and Louis walked down the aisle together and then stood in front of the archbishop, who told them about the importance of supporting each other in a marriage. After Kenneth and Louis were pronounced husband and wife, Glytteronian singers Eithne and Donagh Gallagher finished the ceremony with the song "When You Tell The World You're Mine", written for the couple. Kenneth and Louis walked under crossed swords after stepping out of the cathedral.

A carriage procession followed the ceremony, in which the wedding couple was transported through the streets of Spálgleann. On their way they passed by twenty musical bands, nineteen of which were military. Kenneth and Louis then proceeded in a royal barge over Spálgleann's waters. 550,000 people are estimated to have gathered to watch the procession,[ which was nearly seven kilometers long. 18 fighter jets flew across the sky as the barge approached its landing place at St Ellen's Palace, where the wedding banquet was later held.

The wedding of Kenneth IV and Louis MacTomlin was the biggest event that has ever been covered on television in Spálgleann, according to GBF.
