This overview of education on Sparkalia that includes both early and late stages of education.
Primary and Secondary Education
Choslow
Education in Choslow is free and mandatory from the ages of 6 to 20. The primary education is split between three stages: Quat (similar to primary school), Quat-du (similar to secondary school), and the curriculum is based around the basic subjects of history, Crystallic and Thestrian, mathematics, magic, science, geography, and political understanding. They will be 18 when they finish those courses. Finally, there are two paths that they will take. The first path is if they showed high levels of magical apitude, they will get to go to The Octonary if they so choose. The other option is going to one of the various free city universities that each have their own specialization.
Japuile
The Grand Duchy of Japuile has free state and private education. Both types of education have their own target group, focusing on the best teaching of the next generation and earning, although the government also provides additional funds to random schools in the country every year. Compulsory education ends with secondary school at the age of 18. Compulsory education starts at the age of 5, although many parents can in some way start teaching their children as early as 2 years old, at home. The type of schools that students can attend is really diverse, from high schools to art schools such as music or painting and sculpting. University and industry education is considered superior, because both things can be done in reputable institutions - be it craft, tourist or theoretical.
Kursibar
Education in Kursibar is free and mandatory from ages six to sixteen, and consists of three stages: Heia (equivalent to primary school in other countries), Ua-Heia (similar to secondary school in other countries), and Employment School (similar to a two-year university). Additional education is available in a variety of sponsored schools and universities. Heia lasts eight years. Students are given a basic education in Quoman dialects, mathematics, natural sciences, history, geography, engineering, physical education and visual and musical arts. Ua-Heia lasts for three years and includes three traditional types of schools focused on different subjects: the Quallan prepares students for university studies with a classical or scientific curriculum, while the Qua-Ste'a and the Qua-So'an prepare pupils for vocational education. The Employment School is solely focused on forming apprenticeships and finding students careers.
Ostrov
Ostrov has a single, comprehensive schooling system. Many towns will have their own schools, both at primary and secondary level, where town-dwellers attend; they follow a loose curriculum centred around core subjects such as Common, Lurynian, mathematics, the sciences, history and geography, although many schools choose to deliver arts and physical education as well. Homeschooling is legal under the common law and practiced by many farming families. While most Ostrovians will leave school aged eighteen, the more intelligent town-dwellers will attend the Polytechnic of Ostrov, a Southport-based university which specialises in science, medicine, engineering, mathematics and economics.
