The Sletharine nationality law (Sletharine: Σλεθαρη Νατιοναλη Λεκαζα), officially the Imperial Legislation Act Regarding the Rights and Obligations of the Citizens of the Empire of Slethar (Sletharine: Ρεξινη Λεκαζα Πυριχλος Οβλιγαϡις Ϛιϻιατιν Ρεξινυ Σλεθας), referred to by its shorthand name as the Sletharine Citizenship Act of 2009 (Sletharine: 2009 Σλεθαρη Ϛιϻιονη Λεκαζα) is the act passed in 2009, specifying the rules of the citizenship of the Empire of Slethar.
Multiple citizenship
This law has banned the getting of new dual citizenships for the people that are citizens of Slethar. For those, who already have a dual citizenship, the law specified, that they have to revoke their foreign citizenship before June 1st 2010, or be stripped of their Sletharine one.
The law also specified, as a type of a topic tangent, that all passports issued by Slethar are now invalid and must be handed over to the local bureau. New passports can be issued with the approval of the Administration Bureau.
No citizen can revoke its citizenship (except for those with dual citizenship) and no citizen of a foreign nation can aquire Sletharine citizenship without giving up their former citizenship. If a country they are leaving makes this process impossible or extremely difficult, the foreign citizen asking for a Sletharine citizenship must surrender all documents of their former citizenship (passports, ID cards, health insurance, drivers' license etc.), and must agree to stay resident in Slethar for at least 10 years.
Naturalization
The process of naturalization is not banned by the law, and despite more loopholes created by the problems of banned dual citizenship. People asking for a citizenship in Slethar must meet the following criteria:
- They must reside in Slethar continuously for 5 years or more
- They must pass a B2 Sletharine language exam
- They must give up their foreign citizenship
- They must work in Slethar for at least 3 years or more
- They must have the recommendation from their employer
- They must pay a fee of Ϗ2,500
The rule of blood
Once a citizens' application request has been accepted, the newly naturalized citizen of Slethar undergoes a process of swearing the oath of allegiance to the Emperor. After that, they recieve about 0.1 liters of blood from a Sletharine citizen, after which they are accepted as naturalized citizens and are given all the rights and priviledges of a Sletharine citizen.
This procedure was necessitated by the line saying, that the citizenship of Slethar is based on the blood of the Sletharines, and those who share this blood are Sletharines. This interpretation was passed by the Judicial Quorum's leadership in September 2012. It is considered to be the most extreme interpretation of the Jus sanguinis (right of blood) in the world.
