Philippia, officially called the Kingdom of Philippia, is a North Europan country on Eurth.

Etymology

The name Philippa is an exonym for the area by Aroman Empire. The name in Arhoman is Φίλιππος (Phílippos, “fond of horses”). This is a combination of φιλέω (philéō, “I love”) and ἵππος (híppos, “horse”) is a reference to the Aroman legionaires stationed in West-Burania. A lot of these soldiers eventually permanently settled in the area and became fond of keeping horses, much like the native Buran steppe tribes.

Geography

Prehistoric White Horse hill figure, formed from deep trenches filled with crushed white chalk.

(In SW Burania in Europa on Eurth. Mountainous area along the coast. Wedge in between Vetok to the north, Mongol-Swedes in the east, and Akiiryu to the south.

History

King Magnus II the Great (1622-1686).
Buran Crusades were key to converting North Europa to !Christianity.

(Classical period. History defined by the geography. The mountains were relatively safe from raids by Buran hordes. Sparsly populated. It proved an excellent location for an Aroman counter-offensive, which ultimately failed to destroy the Buran but established a foothold in Philippia and recaptured the areas which now form part of Vanarambaion and Havebergen. Can be inspired by the history of Philippi.)

(Medieval to early modern period. Pretty much left on its own after the fall of Aroma. Heavily suffered during !Viking raids. Forced to negotiate and compromise. Got used to their independence and established a unique culture of their own. Use some image by Jean Baptiste Dieussart as a wink to RL Phil.)

(19th century. The ruling House of Sartdu came to power in 1857, when King Phil I overthrew the previous king Richard II in a bloodless coup.[1])

(Can be based on a mix of information from the Baltic States.)

Demographics

(Ethnic links with both old Aroma and Burania. Rather late to convert to !Christianity.)
