The Hisrea People's Liberation Front (HPLF, حركة المقاومة الإسلامية) is a Hisrean-Zalluabedi Sunni-Islamic fundamentalist, militant, and nationalist organization. It has a social service wing, Tzawah, and a military wing, the Irsani branch. It won the 2014 Hisrean provincial election and became the de facto governing authority of the Hisrea. Many countries, namely Albarine, Caspiaa, Emmiria, Quetana, and Zamastan, have designated the HPLF as a terrorist organization, citing its connections to other Islamist terror groups like al-Fijar. Zalluabed and Drambenburg have designated only its military wing as a terrorist organization. It is not considered a terrorist organization by Nebetia, Togaria, Buckingla, and Yuan.

HPLF was founded in 1997 by dissident clerics Hussein al-Athi, Ahmed Rasayin, Abdel al-Tantissi, and Mahmoud Fattah Al-Yazouri as a direct opposition to the monarchal republic of King Isa al-Jamura, and later his son Farik al-Jamura. In October 2000, a Shia insurgency in western Zalluabed began when al-Athi launched an uprising against the government. The government alleged that the Hisrea People's Liberation Front were seeking to overthrow it and to implement Shī'ite religious law. The revolution was put down and HPLF was relegated to an underground resistance movement until it seized power in the 2014 Hisrean provincial election. In December 2020, the armed wing of HPLF, Irsani, seized many key towns and villages outside of Hisrea province, sparking President Zayyaan al-Akhtar's decision to send government forces into the province to combat them, beginning the Hisrea War. After the capture of Habu Daa on December 30th, the Zalluabed Army began major operations to clear the HPLF, which started resulting in major loss of civilian life. In January 2021, Hisrea Province's First Minister Aikan Ayadmar of the Hisrea Nationalist Party (HNP) pledged to push through with a referendum on independence, regardless of whether he won election against al-Akhtar. President al-Akhtar was reelected to a second term in February of 2021, but despite his domestic popularity, international scrutiny surrounding the offensive ramped up, with Zamastanian Secretary of State Jessiah Vallotis calling it "a genocide in the making." After a Security Council resolution, Zalluabed government forces withdrew from Hisrea on April 19th, 2021. However, the HPLF rebounded and seized much of the province once again, and after an unsuccessful assassination attempt on President al-Akhtar by the HPLF, Zalluabedi forces with the backing of Beleroskov, Buckingla, and Kossmil began a new operation to push them back. Again facing international scrutiny, Drambenburgian observers were sent to mediate the conflict and ensure practical military conduct. On August 8th, 2021, the government and the HPLF accepted an invitation by Timerian President Aneya Raso to a peace conference in Osea, where on August 13th they agreed to a power-sharing agreement, ending the conflict and separating Zalluabed into two distinct governed zones in the Osea Accords.

Zalluabed and HPLF have engaged in several wars of varying intensity. HPLF's military wing has launched attacks against Zalluabedi civilians and soldiers, often describing them as retaliations, in particular for assassinations of the upper echelon of their leadership. Tactics have included suicide bombings and, since 2006, rocket attacks. HPLF's rocket arsenal, though mainly consisting of short-range homemade rockets with a range of 16 km (9.9 mi), also include longer-range (40 km (25 mi)) that have reached the capital of Zakaraban, and on occasion there have been cross-border attacks into Albarine. The Coalition of Crown Albatross has condemned as war crimes and crimes against humanity both HPLF and Zalluabed for attacks on civilians during the conflict, stating that the rationale of reprisals is never valid when civilians are targeted. Albarine and Zalluabed have both imposed an economic blockade of Hisrea since 2016.
