Early Life and Education

Philip was born on 30 April 2011 at 1:29 pm in the Blue Room at the Palace of Porphyrogenitus in Ascanium as the fourth born child and second son of Latin Emperor Jason VI Augustus and his third wife Marsella Atmos. His birth was simultaneously announced to the nation on a special broadcast on RAL. Philip was baptized on 13 June 2011 at Sacra Basilica de Angeli Gabriel by Archbishop Faustus Otovos of Castellum. His godparents are Hector Atmos (his mother's brother); Michael Pinarius; Princess Maria of Latium (his sister) and Euphemia Atmos (his mother's sister).

Like his brother Peter, Philip began playing organized athletics at an early age. He participates in youth hockey for HC Alba Imperialis Juventus in the Greater Alba Youth Hockey League (AMLHJ) on the U-8 team.

As a Latin prince and son of a Sovereign, Philip does not utilize a surname. If Philip were to utilize a surname, it is likely that he would take on the Claudius name; however, it is also possible that the surname for all children of the Sovereign to simply be "of Latium". For ceremonial and formal purposes, all children of the Monarch - with exception to the heir apparent - are entitled to the rank of "prince" or "princess" after their Christian name followed by the territorial designation "of Latium." As such, Philip is styled as "Prince Philip of Latium". Any territorial designations are dropped by males if they receive a peerage.
