Sara Fjédoresem Nymon is a Seketese politician who has served as the leader of the Socialist Party since September 18, 2021. She previously served in various roles, most notibly as Minister of Health during the COVID-19 pandemic, until 2021. Before national politics, she served as the Mayor of Ciloven.

Nymon is fluent in Seketese, Fjeskan, and English, and is often viewed as within the moderate section of the Socialists.

Early life

Nymon was born in Doduc, Fjeska into a Seketese speaking family. Her father, a Kjedorate administrator, was stationed in the Fjeskan town of Doduc at the time, and her family moved back to Ciloven at the age of 2, where she would grow up.

After a gap year abroad in Ukraine, Nymon attended the University of Ciloven, graduating in 1998 with a degree in Public Administration, and later got a masters in the same field at University of North Conelibek.

Career

Mayoralship

After getting her masters, ran for Mayor of Ciloven as the Socialist Party candiate, winning a surprise victory over incumbent Liberal Democratic mayor Paul Ilghe and becoming the city's youngest mayor at 27. She would be easily re-electeed in 2006, defeating CNy candidate Maatin Fjedal.

Member of Hérvynsken

In 2010 Nymon annouced her intention to run in the 2010 parliamentary election in the district of Ciloven Center for the Socialists. Despite her party losing seats to Tomas Serdoa and CNy, she won the seat back for the Socialists from incumbent Feliks Carest. She would be re-elected in 2014, 2017, and 2021.

Ministerial Career

Upon the Socialists majority victory in the 2014 election, newly elected Prime Minister Eris Kellisyen appoint Nymon as the Minister of Administrative Affairs. Her term as Minister was largely taken up with municipal reforms, most notibly the changing of Rynyden district to a region, and the authorization for the usage of Trjebian in the district of Joghen.

In 2016 she was shuffled out of Administrative Affairs into Housing and Transportation. Her term was largely uneventful as a few months later Kellisyen annouced early elections.

The 2017 election the Socialists lost their majority and formed government with OeUC, leading Nymon to be shuffled into the Minister of Health. Her early term was marked by an expansion of SekHealth into rural districts, with 600Đ million the building of rural clinics and hospitals. The spread of COVID-19 in Seketan during the start of 2020 and the governments lockdown protocols brought her role into the public spotlight. Her Ministry reacted to COVID by instituting temporary lockdowns in major cities and establishing an Emergency Responder Income (ERI) for frontline workers to increase their wages. She attracted critisim during her tenure after an omnibudsman report was released showing the government overpaid for ventorlators and PPE, as well as for her lockdown policies.

Party leadership & Leader of the Opposition

In 2021, the Kellisyen government faced a statutory election, which they lost in a landslide to T.V comedian Simy Brasa and his Our Revolution, bringing an end to Nymon's tenur as Minister of Health. On election night Kellisyen annouced he would be resigning as party leader upon the election of a succsesor.

Nymon annouced her candidacy for leadership on 7 July 2021, and quickly emerged as the paramount candidate. She was elected later in September, and the next day was sworn in as Leader of the Opposition, the first female to hold such office.

Nymon lives in Ciloven, with her husband (m. 2004) and 2 children.
