The Seran-Spartan War was a military campaign undertaken by the United States of Sera between July 21st and July 27th, 2021 against the Empire of Sparta Eternal. Prior to the outbreak of hostilities, the previously isolationist Spartan Empire began to become increasingly hostile with nations around it in South Adula. This change in international policy was a direct result of the newly crowned Emperor, Aneas Olympias, adjusting the goals and security responsibilities of the national military. The newly crowned Emperor Aeneas of Sparta deployed the Spartan Army and Marines to the country's borders for added security. This decision was made after the Phalanx Director Decodius Atheaus advised the Emperor of potential threats from neighboring countries Togaria and Semelia, as well as other external threats from Zalluabed, Timeria, Unified Sera, and Austrolis.[1] The director emphasized that this move is not an act of war, but rather a precautionary measure to ensure the country's borders are safe during the new Emperor's settling into power.

In response to rising tensions in the region in nations such as Zalluabed and the massing of troops along Sera's border, the High Command of the Seran Armed Forces (HCSAF) raised the National Defense Preparedness Level (NDPL) from 5 to 3 due to the recent capture of Huad by Zalluabedi forces and growing tensions on the Adulan continent. [2] The Seran Royal Air Force prepared aircraft for immediate action, and all essential personnel were recalled from leave and sent to their units. The National Guard was also placed on alert status Yellow, and Fort Sanoure, the largest Seran military installation in the east, was prepared for rapid mobilization of Seran forces should the need arise.

The Spartan air force responded to what it perceived as Seran agression with force as it flew fighter jets over the unoccupied space between the two nations in a show of power and came close to Seran airspace. The encroaching aircraft were intercepted and pushed away from Seran airspace. The Spartan navy was also deployed into the international waters of the Sea of Austrolis, and after a dire miscommunication, the Spartan Nav fired on the U.S.S Kaafu and nearly sinking the vessel. Prime Minister Akan Khalfani, with the support of the Seran Parliament, declared war on Sparta Eternal.

The war would last for only 6 days with casualties numbering over 11,000 total. The Empire of Sparta Eternal was dissolved, its possessions absorbed into the Seran homeland, and the former Emperor put on trial for crimes against humanity. Olympias was found not guilty on the charges of Crimes Against Humanity, and Conspiracy to Forcibly Seize Power, and found guilty on the charges of Waging a War of Aggression, Upholding the Institution of Slavery, Commission of War Crimes, and Murder of the First Degree (while attempting to elude capture). For his part of the war, Emperor Aeneas Olympias was sentenced to 32 years in prison with no chance of parole. His General who oversaw the murder of Seran civilians in Sparta Eternal was sentenced to Death by Mauling after a grand jury found him guilty (a sentence not often seen in modern Sera), while government officials who upheld slavery and forced Seran and Spartan citizens into servitude were sentenced to 15 years in prison with the possibility of parole for good behavior. Other officials were sentenced on lesser crimes and were given punishments below 5 years in prison.[3]

Aneas Olympias is currently serving his sentence in the Titan Federal Correctional Complex, a maximum security federal prison in Sera's heartland.
