Sigrid Eisen (Gylic transcription: Zigrid Aizyn; born 29 February 1960) is a Gylian electoral campaigner, political strategist, and political commentator. She is known for her leading role in the Minor Party Alliance, which has brought success to several minor parties in federal elections since the 1990s.
Early life
Sigrid Eisen was born on 29 February 1960 in Keraþ. She is of mixed Acrean and Delkoran descent, and the second of three children. In her youth, she studied ballet, which she still practices as a hobby, and was a member of a scouting organisation.
She was interested in mathematics, and attended the Regional University of Mişeyáke in 1978–1983, graduating with a double degree in statistics and art history. She then returned to Keraþ, and began working for the municipal government as a statistician.
Career
Sigrid was inspired by the aftermath of the 1985 federal election to become involved in politics. She was a a research assistant for the Urban Movement in the 1986 and 1988 municipal elections, and campaigned for the Arsad Party in the 1986 regional election.
Minor Party Alliance
In 1989, Sigrid was instrumental in the formation of the Minor Party Alliance (French reformed: L'alliance d'partettes), a collaborative undertaking of minor parties in preparation for the upcoming federal election. She helped organise meetings between parties and encouraged them to exchange preferences, to increase their chances of winning seats.
The Minor Party Alliance gained successes in 1990 and 1995. These elections marked the Non-inscrits' breakthrough at the federal level.
Sigrid's strategy of organising minor parties to have their voters preference each other ahead of major parties has been credited with helping parties such as the FVU, LND, RFS and PPFN win seats for the Chamber of Deputies.
She is noted for her talent in statistically analysing preference flows from election results and strategising how transfers would maximise the chances of a minor candidate winning election. Through her involvement in the Minor Party Alliance, she gained a reputation as a "master of the vote transfer".
She is a freelance strategist and does not officially work for any parties to avoid a conflict of interest.
Commentator
Sigrid writes essays and articles about elections, which have appeared in publications such as The National Record, The Daily Chronicle, The People's Voice, The Gylian Journal, Radix, and the Mişeyáke Metro Mail.
She appears as a panellist on ATV talk shows, through which she befriended Gertrude Karagianes, and has been a guest on foreign media programs such as The Havomar Report to discuss Gylian elections and its voting system.
She has written two books: How to Get Elected (2004), a tongue-in-cheek memoir of her experiences in the Minor Party Alliance, and Adventures of a Rogue Voteologist (2010), a collection of essays.
Private life
Sigrid is a practitioner of Germanic religion and Sofianism. Her native language is German, and she is also fluent in English and French.
She is married with one child.
She is recognised for her "geek chic" appearance, consisting of horn-rimmed glasses, striped shirts, and neckties.
