Principal organs of the Assembly of Nations 

AN General Council — Deliberative assembly of the AN member states —		AN Secretariat — Administrative organ of the AN —		International Court of Law and Justice — Universal court for international law —
May resolve non-compulsory recommendations to states or suggestions to the Security Council (ANSC); Decides on the admission of new members, following proposal by the ANSC; Adopts the budget; Elects the non-permanent members of the ANSC; all members of ECOSOC; the AN Secretary General (following his/her proposal by the ANSC); and the fifteen judges of the International Court of Law and Justice (ICLJ). Each country has one vote.		Supports the other AN bodies administratively (for example, in the organization of conferences, the writing of reports and studies and the preparation of the budget); Its chairperson – the AN Secretary General – is elected by the General Council for a five-year mandate and is the AN's foremost representative.		Decides disputes between states that recognize its jurisdiction; Issues legal opinions; Renders judgment by relative majority. Its fifteen judges are elected by the AN General Council for nine-year terms.

Was originally designed to manage colonial possessions that were former colonial territories; Has been inactive since X, when X, the last trust territory, attained independence.
