The allies moved across the river on 23 September, with Sang-ji creating a false gap to lure the Imperials in to soften their force. Meanwhile, Sang-ji ordered Susuya to move across the river from the right and put pressure on Goyang. Susaya was able to provide artillery support to Sang-ji's men via Land Mattresses, which he deemed a gift to him for his promotion to Generalissimo. Stalemates ensue in Goyang and the nearby village of Ikpo from 24 September-3 October. Soon, Byung-chul and Tae-sung were able to capture Ikpo, alongside Susaya's securing of Goyang.
