The Southern Quenminese Breakthrough (13 November 1940 - 4 January 1941) was an attempt of the Quenminese 17th Army to breakthrough and escape the pocket created following the Battle of the Ulchin Causeway. Field Marshal Hồ Danh Sĩ Quốc attempted to use the Busan Road to escape. There were 3 escape routes over the Nahae River However, Concordian artillery shelling destroyed the railroad bridge, leaving only 2 routes for the Quenminese and Hamyong forces to escape to. The end of the battle saw only 2/5ths of the Quenminese forces in the pocket escape with the rest of the remaining 50,000 surrendering, the biggest Quenmiense surrender throughout the Third Joyonghean-Quenminese War.
