Cartavalia (pronounced /ˌkɑːrtɑːˈvæliːə/) is a city in Amalfi. Located in the district of Amiada, it is the capital of the province of Parsus. It has a population of 917,973, making it the sixteenth-most populous urban area in the country and the largest in the region of Fines.
Founded in the third century BC, Cartavalia was the seat of the Principality of Amiadus and, later, the Parsian Republic. It joined the Amalfitan Empire in the 1670s with a ceremony in front of Cartavalia Citadel.
Cartavalia's main economic activities include food processing and packaging, as well as being one of the key inland tourism destinations in Amalfi.
