The Furbish football league system, also known as the Furbish football pyramid, is a series of interconnected leagues for Furbish rules football clubs in The Furbish Islands. The leagues are linked by promotion and relegation, in theory allowing for clubs on the lowest level to be promoted to the top.
The men's system consists of XX levels: four levels of professional leagues, two levels of semi-professional leagues, and the rest are amateur leagues. All levels outside the top four are organized by the Furbish Football Federation or regional organizations.
The women's system consists of XXX professional levels, XXX semi-professional levels, and XXX amateur levels, all but the top XXX being organized by the Furbish Football Federation or regional organizations.
History
Many versions of what became Furbish rules football have been played starting in the mid-19th century, but rules have not been standardized nationally until 1875. Regional leagues have already existed by that point, and the first national league, called the Furbish National Football League, would play its first season at the beginning of 1878.
