Doctrines
Every Furbish government since Jozef van Biddinghuizen practiced a form of liberal internationalism.
Bosianism
Bosianism, also known as Bosian interventionism, is based on the policies and ideas of Prime Minister Willemijn van den Bos. It is another form of liberal internationalism, however Bosianism advocates for The Furbish Islands to take a leading role in intervening in foreign conflicts, often not waiting for approval of foreign nations or international organizations.
In her first term, van den Bos' foreign policy was similar to that of her predecessor Robbert Pelt, who was influenced by Forbsianism. The beginning of the Gryvan Wars in 1991 had a heavy influence on van den Bos. When she was elected Prime Minister later that year, she immediately ordered an intervention in the country and criticized the removal of Furbish troops which occupied the country following the end of the Third Great War as being too hasty. Currently Furbish soldiers are stationed in all continents, fighting in XX conflicts, either as peacekeepers or fighting more active roles.
Bosianism has been criticized as by many as being imperialist, which Furbish politicians repeatedly deny. Many Furbish politicians criticize this interventionism, but Furbish troops remain as politicians do not want a repeat of the Gryvan Wars.
Thornism
Thornism is based on the policies and ideas of Prime Minister Lukas Thorn. Thorn believed the liberal democracies of the world must cooperate not to spread liberal ideals, but as a means of survival against authoritarian regimes. Thorn was opposed to military interventions. While describing himself as a liberal internationalist, Thorn's policies shared many ideas of realism, including maintaining a balance of power. This would be the closest any Furbish administration came to embracing realism.
Following a series of failed interventions following the First Great War and the Coalition defeat in the Second Great War, many Furbishmen believed Forbsian idealism and liberal internationalism in general has failed. Thorn disagreed with this view. He believed that while communism was going to stay, the remaining liberal democracies needed to stay together to survive in the new world order.
Forbsianism
Forbsianism, or Forbsian idealism, is based on the ideas and policies of Deputy Prime Minister of Foreign Affairs Daniel Forbes. A form of liberal internationalism, Forbsianism advocates for self-determination for all people, and for spreading democracy and capitalism through international organizations such as XXX, which he helped create.
