Banquet of the New Sound is a Vitosian rock band founded in 1977.
Banquet of the New Sound's debut album, R.S.Z.T. (1979), reached number one on the Top 200 a year after its release. The album has sold approximately 25 million copies worldwide.
History
The band was started by Michael Fonseca in 1977, who recruited childhood friends, Johnny Moniz and Lance Rocha. After now-legendary David Wise quit Molten Crew in 1976, Fonseca was quick to reach out and request he audition for the part of guitarist.
After their final album in 2008, the band toured for one more year before Fonseca and Wise expressed a desire to retire. In 2011, they would reunite for a final world tour before Fonseca's illness in 2012. Johnny Moniz would begin his solo career in 2013.
