Ottila Möller (née Schnyder, born 15 February 1973) is an Alslandic politician and civil servant who has served as Premier of Alsland since January 2021.
Möller was born in Werdau, Garz and studied Public policy at Glachau University. Möller was employed at the Department of Finance until 2011 when she was elected to the Folkssenaat. Möller quickly became a close ally of the leader of the Social Democratic Alliance, Roland Kreutzwald. Möller supported Kreutzwald in 2013 after he failed to oust Premier Jonathan Fraser.
Möller became leader of the Social Democratic Alliance in 2017 after Kreutzwald resigned. In 2020 she became the Progressive Alliance's candidate for Premier. The Progressive Alliance emerged as the largest bloc following the 2020 Alslandic legislative election and Möller subsequently became Premier on 26 January 2021.
Early life
Ottila Möller was born on 15 February 1973 in Werdau in Garz, Alsland and was the only child of Per Schnyder who was an MEP from 1979 until 1999 and his wife Tanja Jung. In 1992, she attended Glauchau University and graduated in 1996 with a degree in Public Policy. From 1997 until 1999 she lived in Gaullica before returning to Alsland. Shortly after this she entered the Alslandic civil service as a Public policy advisor within the Department of Finance.
In 2005 Möller helped to organise a civil servants strike after the government introduced a wage reduction of civil servants following the 2005 Recession. The wage reductions were cancelled two weeks into the strike.
Political career
Senator
In the 2011 legislative election Möller was elected to the Folkssenaat. Möller identified closely to the centrist ideology of Roland Kreutzwald and Manna Wouda over the Socialist platform of Jonathan Fraser and Bonne Zijlstra.
In 2013 Möller backed Roland Kreutzwald's unsuccessful bid to replace Jonathan Fraser as Premier. Fraser defeated Kreutzwald who was sidelined from further cabinet meetings. In the 2014 legislative election the Progressive Alliance was defeated by the National Bloc and Fraser resigned as Premier.
Möller was a member of a panel established by the Folkssenaat to investigate corruption allegations against Premier Aarnd Hellinga and Aachtsje Wieringa and became a household name for her questioning of both Premiers and other officials. Eventually both were found to have knowledge of extensive corruption within the government between 2014 and 2016 and Hellinga was arrested in 2018.
After the 2017 legislative election Möller criticised the Progressive Alliance's campaign and especially her former ally Roland Kreutzwald who was the bloc's candidate for Premier.
Eventually Kreutzwald resigned as the leader of the Social Democratic Alliance when coalition negotiations with the Workers Party and The Centre collapsed. Möller won the contest, defeating Lars Mittermaier.
Möller was selected as the Progressive Alliance's candidate for Premier in early 2020. The bloc won the 2020 legislative election and bloc's seat total was the largest since 2003. Möller became Premier on 26 January 2021 after the 2021 Yndyk train bombing caused coalition negotiations between the National Bloc, The Centre and the National Rally to collapse due to the bomber's connection to the latter. Möller became the first Premier to be sworn in during winter in Alsland.

Shortly after being sworn in as Premier, Möller announced that a public inquiry into the bombing would be established and look into how the attack wasn't prevented. In May 2021 Möller's government introduced strict new anti-terrorism measures to curb further attacks. The measures were decried as draconian and overly strict but the Folkssenaat approved the measures nearly unanimously.
Möller's government lost it's majority less than 100 days after she was sworn in when various centrist parties formed Together for the Republic and withdrew from the confidence and supply agreement negotiated between the Green Party and The Centre. Former Premier Asser Toman called the country 'ungovernable' following the split and members of Möller's government criticised the new bloc however Möller remained silent on the issue.
In July 2021 Möller announced she would seek to form a Grand coalition with the National Bloc and Together for the Republic. Coalition talks between the blocs were confirmed on 17 July. The coalition talks collapsed shortly afterwards and Möller announced that she would lead a minority government until the next legislative election.
Möller was criticised in August 2021 for endorsing Rupert van Bleiswijk in the 2021 Hennish federal election but not Armela Viram Srimathi in the 2021 Scoverne federal election like many other ASE politicians. Möller was accused of having a racial bias against Armela Viram Srimathi by members of the opposition. Shortly afterwards, Bonne Zijlstra endorsed Armela Viram Srimathi "on behalf of the entire Alslandic government".

Political views and ideology
Möller is part of the centrist wing of the Progressive Alliance and was a key ally of other centrist figures as a Senator, ideologically she identifies as a Social Democrat and a Euclofederalist. In the past she has identified herself as a professional socialist.
Möller is against non-EC immigration to Alsland and the 2020 Progressive Alliance manifesto says it will take steps to reduce non-EC immigration into Alsland "significantly". Despite this Möller claims that Kirenia which is not an EC member is unaffected by this and is against cutting immigration from Kirenia.
Personal life
Möller is married to Niels Möller. Möller is Infertile and because of this Ottila and Niels have an adopted son. Möller is a non-practicing Amendist and has previously said she doubts her religious beliefs often. Despite being eligible to live in the official residence of the Premier, Möller lives at her own home in in Garz and commutes using public transport. Niels Möller is a member of the Garz Assembly, Niels was a representative from the Weranian Peoples Party but left the party after Ottila became Premier and now sits as an independent in the assembly.
