Incumbent President and Assembly ruling party António Brafeo Socialist Party

The 2021 Quetana general election occurred on October 11th, 2021, with voters in Quetana determining the President of Quetana and the seats in the National Assembly of Quetana. President António Brafeo, who was seeking reelection to a second-term, lost to Emília Medeiros in a sweeping electoral loss, which coincided with a massive pickup in seats for the Socialist Party. The Socialist Party, which had been seeking to maintain their narrow majority, increased it by 132 seats in the largest ever election victory by a Quetanan political party. Since the party with the most MP seats in the Assembly determines the Prime Minister of Quetana, Ian Abril was elected to replace outgoing PM José dos Reis.

Many factors played into the loss for Brafeo and the Social Democratics, including a corruption scandal for which Brafeo was arrested and placed on trial for shortly after the election, and a series of controversies by prominent SDP lawmakers.
