The Great Crash, also known as the Depression of 1924–1932, the Great Depression, the Long Depression, or the Dark Months, was a worldwide economic depression that began with the Tieradan stock market crash of 1924 and ended in most places by the early 1930s. It was the longest, most severe, and most widespread economic crisis in over 300 years.

Tieradan banks were heavily impacted by the early 1920s Vonzumierian insolvency crisis. Banco Ararez, one of Tierada's largest investment banks, went bankrupt in October 1924. This was followed by a run on the Tieradan stock market and an ensuing financial crisis in Patyria.
