The International Democratic Revolution (IDR, Ostro-Ludzic: Medzinarodnă Demokratickă Revoluția, Latin: Seditio Internationalis Democratica), occasionally known as the Namdak-Andelfingen Group since 2019, is a broadly left-wing political movement and paramilitary organization of Belisarian origin. Although it originated as a student activist group at the Academy of Humanities in Ostrozava headed by film auteur and philosophy professor Albin Volf, it soon expanded to have a global reach, with several prominent ex-military leftists joining between 2008 and 2011, including Gariman ex-general Arnt Andelfingen, Gharibic mercenary Silmi al-Hares, and Unionite expatriate Paldon Namdak. The group states its goals to be the abolition of global monarchy and authoritarianism, with the 2005 election of Muratagi Eijiro in Enyama being cited by Volf as a catalyst for the organization's founding.
The organization has taken many forms depending on the nature of local leadership and uneven political disposition of members. The two largest cells until 2019 included the polarizing Volf Group, operating out of North Ottonia, and the paramilitary Namdak-Andelfingen Group, operating out of Elatia. Several smaller cells are also purported to operate throughout the larger world.
On 7 January 2012, IDR's largest objective success occurred when the Namdak-Andelfingen cell of the IDR claimed that they provided the Caughnawaga Liberation Forces, a Serkonan secessionist group, a surface to air missile launcher. The CLF then launched an attack that resulted in the downing of a Clios Peregrine carrying then-King Anders II Eist of Gristol, one of two co-monarchs of Gristol-Serkonos. The IDR are the chief suspects in the 2013 Valegoria hostage crisis, 2014 Merovian mail bomb plot, 2016 Tyvarian Cult attacks, 2016 attempted assassination of Yisraeli President Noah Feldman, and the 2018 failed hijacking of RCA Flight 87. The IDR are also known to operate as a low-level insurgency in the Hvalheim and parts of Viggotoro Province in the former Enyama.
The IDR's reputation as underdog activists took a major blow in 2018, when founding IDR member Albin Volf blew the whistle on the group, revealing to international media that the IDR had been receiving funding and support from the Ostrozavan government's now-disbanded intelligence agency, the PRCO. This sparked a federal investigation in Ostrozava, and just as the investigation was gaining momentum, the director of the PRCO, Valdemar Rezek, was murdered in his home in what is believed to have been a hit orchestrated by the IDR with clandestine assistance from extant elements of the PRCO and the support of some of the Ostrozavan Supreme Court. The scandal led to a major shift in Ostrozava's political landscape, as the military, which had traditionally been presided over by the Supreme Court, flipped to support the sitting government. Six of the nine Supreme Court justices were subsequently indicted; these indicted justices subsequently became known as the Sixfold Cavalcade.
The scandal also resulted in the disbandment of the PRCO by Ostrozavan Primar Benedict Král, and the IDR was officially declared a rogue organization by the Ostrozavan government. In the aftermath of the scandal, the IDR has increasingly radicalized along more international lines, with the Namdak-Andelfingen Group becoming the dominant faction within the organization. Despite this, the IDR continues to operate as a low-level insurgency in parts of Belisaria, and is considered a major threat to regional stability by many governments in the area. In early 2023, the Ostrozavan Aerospace Force killed IDR leader Paldon Namdak in a drone strike in Zamorodna, leading to mixed international reactions.
