Preisland (Apelian: Pays-Preis; Vierz: Preißland), officially the Republic of Preisland (Apelian: République de Pays-Preis; Vierz: Republik Preißland), is a country on the Cercian coast of South Artalia. It is bordered to the west by Remeria, to the southwest by Villera, and to the south by Vonzumier. Preisland's capital and largest city is Crimnitz. With an estimated population of 17.8 million in 2019, the country is the fifth-largest in South Artalia.

Preisland was inhabited by various indigenous groups, such as the Nullya, for thousands of years. In 1499, the land was discovered by the Vierz explorer Hermann Preiss, and in 1510 was claimed by Apelia and incorporated into its colonial empire as Pays de Preis. The land was sparsely settled by Patyrian colonists, who used it primarily for sugar cane cultivation, resulting in the importation of hundreds of thousands of black Tusolan slaves. The land was given to Borland in 1610 after its victory over Apelia in the Eastern Patyrian War. With the end of First Apelic War in 1766, Preisland was annexed by the Vierz Empire as a province of Prince Otto's Land under the terms of the Treaty of Tillena.

The country was occupied by Vonzumier in 1945 under the terms of the Osterburg Memorandum, and gained formal independence in 1957 as a republic. For twenty years, Preisland suffered problems of racial violence, economic instability, and political infighting. In 1978, amidst the Silent War, military officer Abraham Rehn took power in a coup d'état. His despotic dictatorship drew international ire for its extreme human rights abuses, and was overthrown in 1991 by a Vonzumierian military intervention. Vonzumier withdrew from Preisland in 2001, and a new constitution was written establishing a multiparty, democratic republic. Emil Hutto has been the President of Preisland since 2001.

Preisland is a member of the International Assembly, the Artalian Forum, the Vierz Language Organization, and the Association for the Apelian Language. Its developing economy is largely based on agriculture and mineral resources. Its status as a megadiverse country draws a number of tourists every year to witness its ecological diversity. While rates of violence, inequality, and poverty have generally decreased since 2001, the country still maintains the highest homicide rate in the world at 62.21 per 100,000 inhabitants. It is estimated that 19.6% of the population earn less than $1.90 per day, the highest poverty rate on the continent. Preisland is ethnically, culturally, and linguistically diverse and is an officially bilingual country with both Apelian and Vierz serving as official languages at the national level.
